This past week has been beautiful here in Bradenton, and we’ve really been enjoying our stay.
The park consists of 2 loops around the perimeter of the lake, which is great for walking or biking . . . or running, if you are Bryce.
The lake is a great place for bird-watching, too.
Bryce has also been taking advantage of the fitness room; Tom and I have enjoyed the morning coffee cafe and farmers market,
and we’ve all enjoyed the pool!
They have lots of activities in this park, although we haven’t participated in any of them, except for the “Strawberry Fest” on Friday afternoon – YUM! Bryce didn’t want any, so he stayed back the RV, but he sure missed a good treat. I think it was even better than the one we had at Parksedale Farms – and it was FREE!
In between work, school, and just enjoying the warm Florida weather, we visited with a few friends, too. We met our neighbors from our old neighborhood for dinner one day,
and they came by the park another day to check out our new motorhome.
A friend of mine from many years ago -- Kenny from Manapogo -- caught up with me on facebook to let me know he was in the area visiting his Mom and he came over for a visit, too.
It was great seeing him again (after 19 years! Yikes!), and we had a nice time catching up. (I forgot to take a picture while he was here, so I had to “borrow” one from his facebook page.) Thanks for stopping by, Kenn!
Saturday was promising to be an especially beautiful day, so we decided to head down to the beach in Venice. We got there at 10 am, and the beach was still pretty empty.
We were all looking forward to getting some sun, and got comfortable on the beach.
After a while, Tom and I took a walk along the water’s edge,
and spotted a few boats.
The police boat was keeping an eye out for people with dogs wandering from the dog beach (south of us) over to the public beach at the pier.
Bryce and I tried looking for sharks teeth in the chilly (think Lake Michigan in early summer) water, but without the proper scooping tool, we didn’t have any luck!
It was truly a beautiful day, though!
After we’ve had our fill of the sun (oh yes, we got our fill of the sun!! we’re all red tonight!), and Bryce was ready to die of starvation, we packed up our stuff, changed out of our swimsuits, and went looking for lunch. We could have eaten right there at Sharkey’s on the Pier, but we ate there last year and we wanted to try something different.
We ended up at the Salty Dog Cafe, where we had a very good lunch on the deck overlooking the canal. It was nice.
On the way home, we stopped to visit with Harriett and Rita again, this time at their RV Park in Sarasota.
Yep, it’s been a really nice week!
Nice to get out and enjoy visiting with friends and the beach. Just don't get too much sun as it's more intense in Florida. Our daughter's family all had severe burns and sun poisoning from it.
