The doesn’t do any work on the weekends, so we were on our own for Saturday and Sunday. I called my sister, who has a seasonal site nearby, to see if they were going to be around on the weekend. They were planning on going to the Arts & Crafts Festival in Nappanee on Saturday, which is just down the road from us, so we made plans to meet up with them there.
We had to drive right past the Rise-n-Roll Bakery in Nappanee, so we thought we might as well take our coffee with us and get some donuts for breakfast.
Yes, Tom’s apple fritter was as big as his hand! They were SO good, though! YUM!
After breakfast, we made our way over to Amish Acres, where the Arts & Crafts Festival was being held. Admission to the festival required admission to the farm, but I found a coupon online, so it was only $6 each – not too bad (although Tom hated paying admission to go to a craft fair!)
We found Diane and Danny enjoying a soft pretzel in the food tent, and sat and got caught up for a while before walking through the fair. It was a beautiful day, but VERY hot!
That lake in the middle of the fair sure looked enticing!
There was a nice breeze that morning, and when it came across the lake, it felt pretty good!
There were four sections of booths, and we got through them pretty quickly.
Danny was on the lookout for interesting yard art for their lake lot.
There were entertainers, too – some on stages, and some just strolling through the booths,
and tractors . . . it is a farm, after all.
That little guy on the tractor reminded us of Nick & Bryce – they loved sitting on tractors when they were little!
We also wandered through a few of the village shops – the Bakery and the Fudgery – they were air conditioned!

We were on the hunt for Danny’s yard art when we spotted a booth full of metal sculptures, including a couple of large bobble head flamingos (Danny loves flamingos!), but some woman had just bought both of them. He was crushed!
We kept walking, and he decided to go back to see if they might have any more. It turned out that they had one left – and he had just finished paying for it when another couple came walking up, asking about the bobble head flamingos that they saw some woman walking around with! Too late!
He was so happy to get his flamingo!
It was a nice festival, but after a couple of hours in the sun, we were tired and hot, and ready to get back to the air conditioned RV for a rest! We made plans to meet them at their place on Sunday for an afternoon out on the boat.
It was another beautiful day, and we took a nice, relaxing ride around the lake.
There are quite a few new cottages,
and some old ones, too.
We passed by the campground, where the beach was pretty busy,
and anchored out in a quiet area where we could get in the water and swim.
Danny was the first one in the water,
followed quickly by Tom.
It was pretty hot out, so I joined the two of them in the water, but Diane stayed on the back of the boat.
She didn’t stay dry, though! A huge ski boat went around us and made such a gigantic wake that Danny’s boat went way up in the air and back down, and water washed right over the back platform where Diane was sitting!
We were amazed that she managed not to fall into the water – but she did get soaked!
After a wonderful couple of hours on the lake, we headed back in to change clothes and get ready to go to dinner. We had planned on Mexican, but when we got there, they were closed for some mysterious reason. So we tried the little bar next door, and had a pretty good dinner.
It was a beautiful weekend, and we had fun with my sister and brother-in-law. Thanks for hanging out with us, guys!!
Another wonderful weekend enjoying time with family.
