We had an easy drive on Friday; traffic was light, the weather was good, and less than 3 hours after leaving Lovers Key, we arrived at our new home in Thonotosassa, FL, just northeast of Tampa. We checked in and were assigned to a nice, big pull-thru site.
We’re back in an RV Park, and it definitely has a different feel than the state park we just left. There’s a lot of long-term, year-after-year, residents here . . . and definitely an older demographic! They are a friendly group, though! Friday night was BINGO, so Tom and Bryce and I walked down to the recreation building to check it out while Nicolas worked out.
Their price was reasonable, but unfortunately Bryce could not play, or even watch (Florida law, I guess). Tom and I decided to stick around (tv was all repeats anyway), so we found a couple of empty seats and for $4.50 we played BINGO for 2-1/2 hours. It was fun, and I won $5, so that paid for our evening (including 2 hot chocolates at 25 cents each)! The folks we sat with were very friendly and helpful in explaining the various winning schemes. We even got invited to the Medieval Dinner on Saturday – $2 per person for bread, ribs, corn-on-the cob, potato skins, and cake. The food was pretty good, and the entertainment was priceless! I only wish my camera battery had been charged! Some of these folks went all-out with costumes!
Today we just hung out at the camper. It was pretty cool out (high 50s), so I worked on taxes and the boys watched basketball. Bryce was pretty disappointed when MI State lost to U of M right at the end! We had spaghetti & meatballs for dinner, and watched the premier of All-Star Apprentice after The Amazing Race (Go Trace!).
Our location here is pretty convenient to Tampa and the surrounding area, so we’ve got a few things we want to do this week . . . one involving strawberries, and the other involving the Tigers! More on those later . . .
