Exploring Pentwater

After our long, busy day, we all slept in a little the next morning.  Diane and Dan got packed up and checked out of their cottage and brought their car down to our site.

They were going to hang around until after lunch, so we decided to take a drive into Pentwater to check out the beach and some of the shops.

We stopped at the beach first, and it was pretty empty, even for a Thursday morning.  The beach is part of Mears State Park, which includes a campground right along the beach.  It’s another where the sites are just in an asphalt parking lot, though, so wouldn’t be one of our favorites . . . even though it is a great beach!

We walked out along the pier so Dan could collect another lighthouse picture,

and we could admire the beach,

and watch some little fishermen.

The channel passes through the little downtown area of Pentwater, and connects Lake Michigan to Pentwater Lake.

We walked through a few of the shops, including one really cool one that I need to get back to (lots of fun Michigan stuff!), and then found the Farmers Market on the Village Green.

Diane and I each found some fresh vegetables, and Dan bought some homemade caramels for the drive home!  We would have liked to walk through some more shops, but it was after noon and Bryce had to go to work at 2pm, and we still needed to have lunch first.

Diane had brought some brats from Mr. Bratz, and we picked up a dozen ears of fresh, homegrown corn to go with them.  Yum!  It was a great lunch!

We had to say our goodbyes to Diane and Dan then, and we were so glad that they came up for a visit with us.  It was a busy couple of days, but lots of fun!

  1. It's almost sad when a fun visit has to come to an end.
Is Bryce still growing? He seems to be getting taller in the pictures. Hope his shift went well.

    It's about time.
