South Haven, MI

On Friday, I needed to pick up some fresh produce, so we made the short drive into South Haven.

We drove straight through to the beach, and parked the truck at the Marina -- it's a HUGE marina!

We decided to start out with a walk down the pier to the

lighthouse. We saw lots of fish hanging out in the rocks along the pier, and some cool boats, including this

pirate ship! Turns out it's a tour ship, and not a real pirate ship . . . LOL Once it reached the open water, it stopped and put up its sails -- very cool!

After our walk down the pier and back, Bryce had to check out the

water -- it was VERY cold! The sand is SO nice though, and the water is crystal-clear. We'll spend one day at the beach this weekend. Back by the Marina, we saw

ducks on the rocks, and

retirees enjoying the sights.

Bryce took a break

on this cool bench outside of a surf shop. Next we discovered

and decided to take a donut-break! They were yummy, as expected, and we continued on our way. There were lots of cute little shops along both sides of the street -- clothing shops, housewares, a candy shop, even a knitting shop . . . but no quilting shop!! I was a little disappointed, but I did find christmas presents for my girlfriends and a cool vase for the RV, which I'll have to demonstrate later when I have some flowers. The boys were getting antsy with shopping, so we decided to get the truck, find our produce stand and head back to the campground for lunch. We found a nice little produce stand on the way back where we picked up some corn, tomatoes, cukes, fresh red haven peaches, just-picked gala apples and concord grapes -- my FAVORITE!!

Back at the RV, I took some pictures of the site before heading over to the pool for the afternoon.

I read an old John Grisham novel while the boys enjoyed the water. It was a perfect day -- warm enough for swimming, but not too warm for sitting in the sun!

Tom enjoyed the pool, too. There's a big tree next to the pool which pretty much shades the whole area by 4:30pm, so we headed back tot he camper to start dinner. After dinner, the boys and I played a couple games of

pool at the clubhouse, and the boys checked out the

weightroom. The campground was hosting a

bonfire on the beach last night, so we headed down there at dusk. We took Casey with us, and there were lots of other dogs for her to visit with. When we were arriving at this campground yesterday, the boys noticed that there was another X-Aire here, and we were shocked! Standing at the fire last night, Tom struck up a conversation with a guy who asked what kind of trailer we had. Tom told him that we have a Newmar X-Aire, and he said "Oh, you're the ones with the X-Aire . . . . I've got the other one!" They were comparing notes all night!!

Around 10pm, the boys decided to take Casey back to the trailer and watch a DVD. Tom and I stopped at a friend's camper -- Tony, who works with us, and his wife Kim. They had family staying with them and they were all out around the fire. Tom and I joined them, and we ended up sitting there until 1am . . . when the sprinklers were starting to come on all around us, and we were beginning to get worried about getting a late night shower! We called it a night and headed home!

This morning the boys are fishing in the little lake here at the campground, so I should go now and get some pictures . . . maybe we'll head over to Lake Michigan later, or maybe just to the pool!
